Though we do have a handful of good cafes in the Hills, my favourites still happen to be the ones much farther away, such a Dining & Co, a good 35 minute drive away in North Ryde. So when I found out that they were opening up a second branch in Castle Towers (replacing Bellacinno) i.e. less than 10 minutes away, I was stoked!
Dining & Co’s Castle Hill location is right in the middle of a busy shopping centre so the ambience is not quite as relaxed as their Ryde branch, but we’re pleased to find that the menu is much the same. There’s a good selection of breakfast and lunch offerings, including your café brekky staple of Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, made extra fancy with a sprinkle of caviar.
But personally, I just can’t go past the Dining & Co Breakfast Bruschetta which is my favourite from their menu so far. It’s a simple combination of fresh tomatoes on toast with a balsamic glaze, with a very generous serving of avocado chunks added in for a more breakfast-like feel, as well as a sprinkle of feta and finger-lime for some added flavour and zing.
I said it last time that I would add a poached egg to make it more of a breakfast dish, and that’s exactly what I did, the serve of protein to make the dish that little more satisfying for breakfast.
For something a little different, the Calamari Salad is a refreshing combination of tender baby calamari, lentils, chickpeas, on a bed of mixed greens and cherry tomato. Thin slices of watermelon radish and char grilled lemon add a fancy touch to the salad
