If there’s one cuisine I don’t have enough of it would Greek, so I was excited to join FCBA at their dinner at Platia Greek Taverna, not only for a night of good food but also plate smashing!
Their plate smashing occurs once a month on Friday nights, and is a fun filled night with performances, dancing, and the opportunity to relieve all your stress by smashing plates on the ground (don’t worry, they’re not real plates,it’s not dangerous at all!).
There’s no shortage of delicious cocktails.
Or if alcohol is not so much your thing, there is also a refreshing mocktail on offer.
Mixed dips served with fluffy pita bread are the perfect starter to share, served with tzatziki, taramas and tirokefteri.
Char-grilled quail are a surprising favourite, super crispy quail in lemon olive oil, garlic & aromatic greek herbs
Dolmades are tasty vine leaves stuffed with rice & fresh herbs
And one can never say to to grilled haloumi, a simple dish drizzled with olive oil that just works.
You don’t want to mixx the Florina Peppers, which are a large red pepper stuffed with cheese, chilli & fresh herbs.
If you’re hungry, go for the mixed meat platter, an impressive meat feast consisting of lamb souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, lamb cutlets, country sausage, pork belly pancetta, pita bread, tzaziki chips
Our favourite component of the platter was the cyprus sheftalia so we’re glad we’ve gotten it on its own as well. Infused with parsley, onion, aromatic greek herbs, it’s a super tasty grilled pork sausage .
There’s also a rotating blackboard specials menu, of which we tried the seafood stew. It’s beautifully presented, and there’s plenty of seafood, the soup sweet and tasty.
If you’re look for the desserts, don’t worry, there’s a full dessert menu, just not attached to the menu. And you cannot leave without at least trying their poached pears and baklava.
You can either order it own its own or go all out like us and get the dessert platter which give you a taste of everything. Great for sharing, although you’ll have trouble sharing the baklava. I can guarantee that!
The strawberries platia is a a beautiful glass of fresh strawberries in pomegranate couli on rose water custard, sesame pasteli, with a fluffy strawberry fairy floss topping that’s actually less sweet than what it may seem.
Galaktoboureko is reminiscent of a vanilla slice, a rich creamy semolina custard sandwiched between layers of falky filo pastry.
